UPAYN 2012
“When you do what you love, the seemingly impossible becomes simply challenging, the laborious becomes purposeful resistance, the difficult loses its edge and is crushed by your progress.”
Deepastambha members, proved this notion to be true during UPAYN- donation in form of the gift, project in year 2012, the 5th on going year for Deepastambha Charitable Trust.
Taking in account, last 3 years Upayn experience, and learning from the past know-hows, this year UPAYN was different & successful in various aspects.
Deepastambha did go places this year literally, with UPAYN 2012.
UPAYN 2012 was held @ Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik. Deepastambha actually spread its light, geographically, outside Pune, for the first time, during UPAYN 2012.
After deciding this leap, one of the important challenges was the awareness strategies and campaigns to be held at all the 3 Upayn venues.
The awareness campaigns were successful because of the co-operation from all members, there relatives/ acquaintances from these venues and the dedicated work of our members. This included couple of prior visits to the venues i.e. Kolhapur & Nashik, in order to understand and decide the strategies for hosting a donation camp @ these places.
From the learning’s of previous UPAYN projects, new improvements and dimensions were incorporated for this UPAYN, @ all 3 venues. Just to mention several of them, the members were completely thrilled & eager to own new bright DCT T-shirts. Unity and enthusiasm of working together was flaunted by all members, and one of the reasons for this was surely the newly introduced DCT T-shirts.
Another evident improvement was : Paperless Upayn. All the data which included different visitors, donors information, was recorded on laptops. No paper was used for this work. Regular backup was being taken for this, at intervals, and it definitely saved lot of work, post-Upayn.

For Pune Upayn, another addition was in the donations. Toy- donation was included, being the 5th kind of donation, and we certainly got plenty of donors for the newly integrated donation.

The theme, and one of the eye-catching, impressive dimension was the decoration done at the venues. Nashik & Kolhapur Upayn, being half day Upayn had simple, but welcoming decoration. Pune- Upayn venue was aptly decorated keeping in mind the donation camp, by using ‘warli- paintings’ theme plus a short social message along with it. The back drop of the stage showcased the overall journey of Deepastambha’s Upayn since its inception. It was shown graphically along with statistics which made it more impactful & attractive.

NASHIK UPAYN 2012
Feedback from the visitors and donors was taken at all the 3 venues of Upayn, which proved to be quite motivating and inspiring for all the members.
Getting volunteers and donors in different cities namely Nashik, Kolhapur seemed quite a challenging task. The initial awareness as well as the dynamic awareness conducted on the day of Upayn, made this task easier. It was extremely heart- relieving to see the donors coming in one-by one, and contributing for this noble cause.

The cherry on the cake for Pune Upayn was the presence of Mr. Sudhir Gadgil. It was the privilege of DCtians to once again get a chance to interact and have the presence of such influential personality. Mr Sudhir Gadgil graced the donation camp at Pune by his presence. Words of advice by such personalities definitely motivate us in positive direction.
